QUESTION: I expected fallout after the large reference book was dunked in the aquarium. What happened?
Answer: Do you have any doubt that David would have found a way to cover his tracks?
QUESTION: You reference actress Ursula Andress and her appearance in the James Bond movie. I noticed two of the customers on the paper route were Connery and Moore, two actors who played James Bond. Are there other hidden references?
Answer: Yes. There are a dozen or more. You’ll note the chief of police is Mr. Brosnan who looks at Grant with piercing eyes, a tribute to Pierce Brosnan, the fifth actor to play Bond (not counting the David Niven spoof). There are also numerous homages to Patrick McGoohan, my favorite actor of that era, who played Secret Agent Man.
QUESTION: Were you once a paperboy?
Answer: Yes. Like the lead character, I delivered the Hartford Times beginning at age 11. I also saved up to buy my first bike. Important lessons learned about people and business began as a paperboy.
QUESTION: You left the final scene with Mrs. Sheridan ambiguous. Did they or didn’t they?
Answer: What do you think?
QUESTION: I loved the characters and how you created a feel for that time. Is there a sequel planned?
Answer: Yes, but I’m putting the final touches on another book first. Look for it here later this year.
